 Scholarship Information
 The West Newbury Garden Club is pleased to announce its scholarship opportunity to students who reside in the towns of West Newbury, Merrimac, or Groveland. The WNGC encourages and cultivates interest in gardening and aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources. The scholarship is supported by member dues and its annual plant sale in May. This year, $3,500 is available for the scholarship. We expect to award scholarships to 1 to 2 deserving students.
In order to be eligible, the student must:

  • be attending college (two or four-year college) in the 2017-2018 academic year.
  • be pursuing a major in Environmental Studies, Biology, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Design, Botany, Horticulture or any related major which pertains to our environment.
  • demonstrate good academic standing through grades, SAT scores, or other academic criteria.
  • demonstrate community service for others through extracurricular activities and volunteering.

    To apply, submit the following:
  • A WNGC Application Form
  • An essay from the candidate describing his/her motivation for pursuing a career in the environment
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A school transcript
